Quick take. Eufy security cams after a year-plus of real ownership — four gripes, and I still keep them for easy coop / barn / solar set-and-forget.
The four: privacy reports that still feel unfixed, limited cloud (even with the no-sub win), late alerts vs Blink on my side-by-side, and weak customer support.
Not saying the cams are trash. Never sponsored. Own money. Own cameras. If you need instant intruder alerts or heavy support, look at alts — Blink was always faster for me side-by-side.

What I actually showed
I’ve owned Eufy cams for years. Loved them. Advocated for them. Eufy never sent me product and never sponsored the older praise videos — that was own-money use.
This video is the unfortunate update: gripes from my own setup plus what other owners kept saying under my reviews. Four big ones — privacy, limited cloud, late alerts vs Blink, and support.
Not saying Eufy is horrible. They’re sending acknowledgments and working on things. There are still lots of competitor options if you need something more specific.
Real rooms in my video: walk-bys that notify late, cold / snow storms where the outdoor cams did pretty darn good, a doorbell that got hammered by cold charging, and the keep use case — chicken coop / barn / solar set-and-forget.
1. Data privacy
Should a security cam be secure? You’d think so.
In my video I flagged multiple reports of unauthorized access — someone halfway across the world watching footage. Big no.
I don’t know if that happened to my footage. It’s out there. They haven’t denied it. They’ve apologized. As I framed it in my video, it still felt unfixed — big red flag.
Spoken research in my video, not my lab: Arlo / Ring / Nest / Blink called out as having gotten much better on encryption / 2FA-type security from notes I read on camera. Check those brands’ live security docs — not an Ohana packet capture.
2. Limited cloud (keep the no-sub win)
Funny gripe — I used to toot that Eufy did storage well.
Still love: no monthly fees for full feature access and local memory on the cams.
HomeBase path (spoken): HomeBase 2 and HomeBase 3 are expandable; HomeBase 3 called out for expansion + AI detection compatibility.
Cloud options are severely limited vs other brands. If the device gets damaged, recovery isn’t easy. Most cams take SD / microSD — you can potentially retrieve if the card survives.
My workflow in my video: wipe when I don’t need the footage; if I need a clip, save to a device / external drive because space runs out in about 3 days to a week. Compatible cams can also send to HomeBase. I format a lot of Eufy footage.
Spoken research: competitor cloud plans I read in my video — Arlo flexible plans, Ring plans starting around $3/mo talk with long history mentions, Nest Aware / 24/7 recording talk. Soft dollars — check live listings for current plan prices. Not my Eufy lab.
3. Reliability / late alerts vs Blink
Plenty of times the cam won’t catch a walk-by — no record, no notify.
First time it happened: I walked by; about 5 minutes later it finally notified. Way too late.
Not every time — but more often than it should. If you need instant intruder alerts, consider other options.
Blink side-by-side (video): Blink always notified first. Even with Blink sensitivity turned down and Eufy at the highest, Blink was still faster.
Deep dive on that compare: Eufy vs Blink vs Wyze.

Cold / snow: outdoor cams did pretty darn good. Doorbell (no model # in my video): charged more in the cold than I expected — also less front-door traffic that winter. Half and half. Sister if you’re shopping doorbells: Tapo vs Eufy doorbell.
Still love the cams — but Eufy is not always the most reliable vs competitors for instant alerts. Also named Wyze as an alt (paid sub for full features) — Wyze OG.
Spoken research: Arlo / Ring / Nest reliability notes I read in my video — not timed Ohana lab beyond the walk-by / Blink side-by-side.
4. Customer support
Good luck getting help in the Eufy support app / email / chat / website when you need them most — super unresponsive on my experience.
Competitors in my video framed as 24/7 / on-demand support. Gripe that a brand under Anker still feels this thin on support in 2024.
Spoken research in my video: BBB / Reddit / Trustpilot-style notes I read for Arlo / Ring / Nest — research notes, not my ticket dump. Soft stats — treat as spoken framing, not Ohana-verified percentages.
Still worth keeping?

Yes for me — for a really easy cam you set up and leave by the chicken coop, back by the barn, especially solar set-and-forget.
If you want something more specific and you’re fine paying a subscription — great options among competitors (Blink and others). Start here: Eufy vs Blink vs Wyze.

Spec strip
Said on camera: years owned · never sponsored · privacy unauthorized-access reports + apology / unfixed feel · no-sub win · HomeBase 2/3 expandable · HomeBase 3 expansion + AI detection · cloud limited · SD / microSD path · wipe / save workflow · ~3 days–1 week space · late notify ~5 min walk-by · Blink always faster side-by-side (Blink sensitivity down / Eufy highest) · cold/snow outdoor cams OK · doorbell cold charge half-and-half · weak support · Anker parent · keep for coop/barn/solar · alts Blink / Arlo / Ring / Nest / Wyze.
Spec, not a test I ran: Exact SoloCam SKU spoken in my video (none) · packet captures · lux · timed alert labs beyond the walk-by anecdote · competitor plan dollars beyond soft “check live” · personal account breach proof.
Keep card honesty: solar keep CTA = SoloCam S340 = description favorite on this video, not spoken in my video.
Pros
Easy set-and-forget for coop / barn / solar
No monthly fee for core local use
HomeBase 2 / 3 expand path (3 also AI detection compatibility in my video)
Outdoor cams handled cold / snow pretty well on my place
Blink compare is clear if you care about instant alerts
Not sponsored — own money, own cams
Cons
Privacy reports + apology + unfixed feel — still a red flag
Cloud options thin vs competitors
Late alerts vs Blink on my side-by-side (~5 min walk-by anecdote)
Support feels unresponsive (app / email / chat / site)
Doorbell cold charging was worse than expected (half and half)
No SoloCam model spoken in my video — S340 keep card is description-favorite honesty only
Who it’s for / not for
For: Someone who wants easy Eufy solar / barn / coop coverage and can live with the four gripes.
Not for: Instant-intruder notify buyers, or support-heavy buyers — Blink (and other alts named in my video) fit that lane better on this compare.
How this compares
Blink (from my video): Side-by-side, Blink always notified first — even with Blink sensitivity down and Eufy at highest. If late alerts are your deal-breaker, start with the sister deep dive: Eufy vs Blink vs Wyze.
Wyze: Named in my video as an alt with paid sub for full features — Wyze OG two fatal flaws.
Arlo / Ring / Nest: Named as security / cloud / support research notes in my video — not Ohana hands-on labs for those brands on this video.

FAQ
Are Eufy cams still worth keeping after these 4 issues?
Yes for me for coop / barn / solar set-and-forget. Not if you need instant alerts or great support.
What’s the biggest alert gripe?
Late notifies. Blink was always faster side-by-side — even with Blink sensitivity reduced. See Eufy vs Blink vs Wyze and Wyze OG.
Do you still like the no-subscription part?
Yes. That’s still a win. Cloud options are just limited.
Did you prove a breach on your account?
No. I’m flagging reports + apology + unfixed feel — not a personal breach lab.
HomeBase 2 or 3?
Both expandable in my video. HomeBase 3 called out for expansion + AI detection compatibility. Sister: HomeBase 3 vs 2.
Which Eufy model should I buy from this post?
My video doesn’t name a SoloCam SKU. Keep solar card is S340 (description favorite on this video). HomeBase 2/3 and Blink were spoken. Sisters: S220 · Solar vs battery · S340 vs E50 · Solar lineup · HomeBase 3 vs 2.
