I didn’t charge it out of the box. I live in mid-Michigan. It’s still up.
I bought four Eufy solar cameras with my own money: the E30, the E42, the S340, and the S4. Not a sponsor haul. I wanted to know which one I’d actually put on a house like mine — kids, deer, weather, Wi-Fi that lags when it feels like it.
This is the test I filmed on Keli’i Discovers: I bought the E30, E42, S340, and S4.
People keep asking if the E30 is a “fixed” cam. It isn’t. It pans and tilts 360 and tracks you. Daytime is 2K. At night it’s infrared black and white, so you know something is there, not what color the car or the hoodie is. The mic on that one surprised me. About two hours of sun a day. I did not charge it out of the box. Cloudy Michigan. It stayed on.

The E42 came in last. I paid S340 money and got less camera. No built-in memory. You need a microSD or a HomeBase 3 just to keep clips. The lights are neat. That was not enough.
The S4 is the beast. Better picture, better track, better zoom, color night. It also costs what I’d rather spend on more than one camera. If you only want one perfect unit, that’s your lane. Mine isn’t.
The E30 is second. If you’re on an S220 and you want tracking without going broke, this is the honest upgrade. 2K is enough. The night is IR only. No onboard storage, so budget a HomeBase if S340 is sold out.
The S340 is the one I told people to buy. Color night vision. 3K. It tracks and zooms. 8GB in the camera, up to 32. No HomeBase required. When I filmed it, it was within a couple of coffees of the E30 and about even with the E42. That’s why it won. You’re not paying a monthly bill to replay your own clips.
If the S340 is gone, look at the E30 plus a HomeBase. Don’t buy the E42 just because it’s in the thumbnail.
