This is the Wyze OG security camera — my personal experience. Number one gripe: subscription to get person/animal notifications on your phone. Very strange to me. Indoor/outdoor marketing, but my version needs an outdoor modular sold separately — I did not see that. I’m returning it. Good camera, not doing what I need. Check the live listing.

What I actually showed
Cube on camera with footage. Twist mount. Micro-SD slot and reset under the cover. Micro-USB plugged to keep charge alive. Wyze app / QR on the camera. Indoor cube in hand / kitchen cable stills.
The subscription
They’re forcing you into a subscription plan to get any type of notification on your phone. Person, animal — those specifics will not notify you. Very strange to me. I personally don’t like it. I don’t like paying for subscriptions monthly over and over for something I don’t think I need.
It does notify you for noises — big plus if you’re a new parent and want to hear a baby crying. That’s where this shines.
If you’re going to capture actual motion, you will want the subscription when you get this device.
It still captures certain events. You can live record. SD card to save more content.
Setup and what works
Setup is pretty easy — twist it on. Micro-SD slot. Reset button. Wyze app, scan the QR on the camera. Straightforward.
I don’t like that it plugs into micro-USB to keep the charge alive.
Positives: super fast response time — turns on and live streams almost instantly. Two-way communication. Loud speaker. Loud alarm / siren.
Indoor / outdoor — and why I’m returning
This is supposed to be indoor/outdoor — that’s why I even considered buying it. The version I got needs an outdoor modular sold separately. I did not see that. I won’t even be able to use this outdoors. That’s another reason I’m returning it.
It’s a good camera, but it’s not doing the things that I need it to do. I will be returning it. I am not the best person when it comes to subscriptions.
