Last updated: August 20, 2026. Living page. I’ll add as we actually use the gear.
People ask me “Eufy vs Blink vs Wyze” like there’s a winner you hang on every house. There isn’t. I live on a rural property with kids, pets, deer that treat the driveway like a trail, weather that does not care about your Amazon listing, and Wi-Fi that lags when it feels like it. The real question is simpler: do you want to pay rent to replay your own clips, or do you want the video to live at the house?
We run cameras on a rural property. Deer, weather, and bad Wi-Fi are the test. This is what’s on my house right now, what I’d buy if I were putting up one outdoor cam in 2026, and the listing I wish I’d read twice.

What’s actually on the house
As of August 20, 2026, two systems are doing real work here.
The first outdoor cam I put up was the Eufy SoloCam S220. This was one of the first cameras I installed, and it’s still running without a hitch. Solar. Local storage. No monthly bill to watch a clip. Night vision is the weak spot — blurry when it’s actually dark. Rural Wi-Fi lag is real. Deer alerts happen. I still keep it because the job it was hired for — cover a slice of the property without a subscription — is the job it still does.
In my June 27, 2025 under-$100 write-up, the S220 was about $64.99. Official page is here if you want the manufacturer listing.
The other kit on the house is Blink Outdoor 4 — the 3-cam. Garage and driveway. Setup took about 10 minutes. If you already live in Alexa, Echo, or Fire TV, it just shows up where you already look. That is the honest reason it stayed.
That’s the inventory. Not a lab. Not a 12-camera wall.
The 2026 buy: S340 if you’re putting up one outdoor cam now
If I’m buying one outdoor camera today, it isn’t another S220 and it isn’t another Blink pack. It’s the Eufy SoloCam S340.
That’s the daily driver. I sent back the S3 Pro kit (~$550) and kept this. 3K dual lens, 360° pan/tilt, solar, no monthly fee. As of August 2026 it sits around $200.

I am not going to pretend I published a standalone S340 review. I haven’t. I’ve been shooting S340 vs E30; that’s a different post. What I will say is this is the one I’d put on a house like mine if I were starting from a blank wall in 2026: one mount, wide and zoomed, sun on the panel, clips I can replay without a plan.
If you want the older “under $100 outdoor” conversation, that’s still the 2025 list. The family-gift version of this same lean is in Best Family Tech Gifts 2026.
Blink if you’re already in Alexa — cheap this week, then budget the sub
Blink is not the villain. I installed the Outdoor 4. I use it.
The 3-pack is the value. In that June 27, 2025 post it was about $99.99. On August 20, 2026, in the gifts post, the 3-pack was still under $100. That’s why people text me the listing.
Then you have to be honest about year two. Here’s the split I actually use:
- Blink is cheaper today. Eufy is cheaper by year two if you refuse a subscription.
- Eufy records at home (card, onboard, or HomeBase). Blink’s happy path is cloud. Local Blink exists (Sync Module + USB) — side door, not front door.
- No monthly plan to replay Eufy clips. That’s why I stayed.
- Blink batteries last longer (AAs). Eufy wants solar or you’ll climb a ladder.
- Eufy picture is sharper. Blink is “stick it up, open the Amazon app.”
If you’re already in Alexa and you want three cameras on the house this week, the Blink Outdoor 4 3-pack is the honest cheap path. Budget the subscription if you want the features that actually matter. There’s also an Outdoor 4 + Spotlight bundle in the shop if you need light on a dark approach. I’m not writing a floodlight review here. I’m telling you the 3-pack is what I put on the garage and driveway.
Wyze: read the listing
Wyze Cam OG is not a third column in this comparison. It’s a cautionary paragraph.
I bought it. I missed the Amazon fine print. It is a plug-in camera, not a true wireless outdoor cam. Fast and cheap indoors. In the June 27, 2025 post it was about $21.58. That price is the trap: you think you scored a driveway camera and you scored a cord.
I am not going to write a “living with Wyze on the driveway” section, because I didn’t. Don’t gift it as an outdoor camera. If you want a cheap indoor eye, fine. If you want something on a rural wall with no outlet, keep walking.
HomeBase 2 vs 3 in 2026
HomeBase 2 is still part of my setup for older gear. I’m not ripping it off the shelf because a 2026 list said so. If it still pairs and the clips still land, leave it.
A new system in 2026 is HomeBase 3. As of August 2026 the list price was $199.99; street was often around $150. Expandable storage. That’s the hub you buy if you’re starting, or if you’re adding a drive and newer cams.
HomeBase 2 is leftover, not the future. I already wrote the longer split: Eufy HomeBase 3 vs HomeBase 2. Short version: don’t dump a working 2. Don’t buy a new 2 if you’re building from scratch.
One SoloCam (S340 included) can run without a hub. Skip the box if onboard storage is enough. Don’t skip it if you want one place for clips and room to grow.
How I’d choose in 30 seconds
- One outdoor cam on a house like mine, no monthly plan: S340.
- Already in Alexa, need coverage this week, okay paying later: Blink Outdoor 4 3-pack. Then budget the sub.
- Cheap indoor, you read the plug-in line: Wyze Cam OG. Not a driveway cam.
- New Eufy system: HomeBase 3 + the S340. Keep a working HomeBase 2.
- Still deciding under $100 the old way: start with the S220 if you want solar and no fees, knowing night vision is the weak spot.
That’s the lean. Not a ranking. Two cameras on the house, one 2026 buy, one listing I got wrong.
