First thoughts only — I have not held an X6 yet. Announce + other reviewers, not a farm film from me.
Paper stack vs X5: dual Sony 1/1.1″ sensors, 8K50, bigger battery claim, PanoMind AI Director while charging.
Daytime IQ may feel incremental; early AI notes from others are mixed. Amazon label is the Essentials Bundle — check the live listing.
Quick take
I have not held an X6 yet. I’m buying one soon. This is first thoughts from Insta360’s announce specs and what other reviewers are saying — not a farm film from me.
Worth a hard look if you shoot 360 and want the bigger-sensor / 8K50 / AI-edit jump.
Real win on paper: dual Sony 1/1.1″ sensors, more light claim vs X5, 8K50, bigger battery claim, PanoMind AI Director while charging.
Real limit: daytime IQ looks incremental in other hands-on write-ups, and early AI Director notes are mixed. I cannot grade night or FOV until mine lands.

Insta360 announce footage (not a KeliiDiscovers filmed review).
What was announced
Bigger dual sensors vs X5: Sony 1/1.1″ (Insta360 cites about 33% more area and about 4× the light vs X5’s 1/1.28″). Spec / brand claim — not a night grade I shot.
Video: 8K50 (X5 was 8K30). Single-lens up to 5K60. InstaFrame 2.0 = 360 and flat together, flat up to 4K. Spec, not my export log.
Photo: 120MP 360 (X5 was 72MP). Spec.
Color: 10-bit, native Dolby Vision, I-Log on the brand sheet. Spec, not a grade I dialed in.
Battery: 2600mAh; up to about 140 min at 8K30 claim (~51% over X5’s ~88 min claim). 0→80% in about 24 min claim. Apple-style brand numbers — not my drain log.

Onboard storage: brand tables cite a bigger onboard class (about 47–64GB range in coverage) — verify on the live listing.
AI editing (brand / others — not my test)
PanoMind AI Director: edits while the cam charges, then hits the app. Auto Edit 2.0 one-tap framing, cuts, music. Moments Pro with cloud + Gemini-style prompts in brand materials.

Label every AI line as brand or other reviewers. Early public hands-on (WIRED / Trusted Reviews / TechRadar and similar) call low-light, battery, and pro-color the real wins; daytime IQ more incremental; AI Director mixed or patchy in early notes. That is their footage — not mine.
Should you upgrade from the Insta360 X5?
I filmed and kept the X5 lane on the site: https://ohanareviewsblog.com/insta360-x5/
If you already own X5 and mostly shoot bright day, other reviews say the jump can wait. If low light, longer 8K runs, or AI auto-edit while charging is the job you want, the paper stack is why I’m buying.
I have not A/B’d X5 vs X6 on the farm yet. When I do, that post gets a rewatch — not this one.
Spec strip
Public Insta360 / announce specs (Spec, not a test I ran):
- Dual Sony 1/1.1″ sensors (~33% more area / ~4× light claim vs X5 1/1.28″)
- 8K50 360 · single-lens to 5K60 · InstaFrame 2.0 (360+flat, flat to 4K)
- 120MP 360 photo (vs X5 72MP)
- 10-bit · native Dolby Vision · I-Log (brand)
- Battery 2600mAh · up to ~140 min 8K30 claim · 0→80% ~24 min claim

Pros
- Bigger sensors + 8K50 is a clear paper jump from X5
- Battery claim is the upgrade X5 keepers asked for
- AI Director / Auto Edit 2.0 could cut edit time if it sticks
- InstaFrame 2.0 = 360 and flat in one take on paper
- 120MP stills for reframes later
- I’m buying one — that is how strong the announce looks to me
Cons
- I have not held or filmed one yet
- Daytime IQ may feel incremental if you already love X5 in sun
- Early AI Director notes from others are mixed — not a guarantee
- Price from ~$700 — check live; kits add up
- Amazon CTA is the Essentials Bundle (
B0H5CJRJV7), not a standalone camera-only body - No personal night / FOV / waterproof week in this post
Who it’s for / not for
For: X5 owners who care about low light, longer 8K, and AI auto-edit. New 360 buyers who want the current top Insta360 stack. People who will use InstaFrame / flat + 360.
Not for: Anyone who needs my filmed verdict this week. Happy X5 shooters who only do bright day and hate app churn. Budget buyers waiting for a street-price drop.
vs what I’d buy instead
Sister on the site (filmed): https://ohanareviewsblog.com/insta360-x5/
X5 stays the “already owned / proven on my channel” pick until X6 is in my hands. GoPro / DJI Action lanes are different jobs — not this 360 brief.
FAQ
Did you test the Insta360 X6?
No. First thoughts only. I’m buying one soon.
Is X6 worth it over X5?
On paper for low light, battery, 8K50, and AI edit. If your X5 already covers bright day, other reviewers say you can wait. I have not A/B’d them myself.
What about the AI software?
Brand pitch: AI Director while charging, Auto Edit 2.0, Moments Pro. Early public reviews call it promising but patchy. Not my edit timeline yet.
